Today’s executives are working long hours, taking on a lot of stress and look for features in their home to make their lives easier and more efficient. But they also want their home to be the place where they relax after a long, difficult day; a place where they can entertain with ease and enjoy family time.
So what home features are top executives seeking?
Here are a few that we’ve found to be big hits with Ramos Design Build clients.
1. Walk-in closets, especially in the master bedroom
Today's custom homes are better designed for efficiency, with one or more walk-in closets. Organized storage spaces can make even a small home feel much more spacious.
60% of homeowners prefer walk-in closets in the master bedroom, in particular people between the ages of 35 and 54. They rate this as a very important feature.
Why? Two main reasons: space and status. The more you climb the corporate ladder, the more clothes you need. Today’s power couples are often both out in the workforce and are holding down high-power positions. His and Her walk-in closets in the master bedroom are particularly desirable. Big closets that are easy to move around in are also easy to keep organized. Time is of the essence when jetting off to work or rushing to pack for out of town meetings. Walk-in closets make dressing and packing for trips a breeze.
And, they’re kind of a status symbol. The bigger the closet, the more powerful the owners.
2. Linen Closets
High-quality linens are of the utmost importance to ensure a comfortable night’s rest. When you work long hours, sinking into the comfort of a bed adorned with clean, fresh, high-thread-count sheets is pure luxury.
Keeping the extra sets of linens, soft fluffy towels, and pillowcases organized and ready for changing is more important than you might think. A good sized linen closet, conveniently located in the home, makes life a little nicer.
3. Large kitchens with kitchen islands
A large, well-planned out, kitchen is a must-have feature. It should include top of the line appliances that are easy to keep clean. Sub-Zero and Wolf are the appliances of choice at Ramos Design Build. A great kitchen should also have several work areas and plenty of storage. Sinks and faucets must be both functional and beautiful as well. Consider the innovative Rohl faucets when designing the perfect the kitchen.
The kitchen will always be the number one gathering place in the home, and it’s great if it can include an informal eating area. Kitchen islands are important too in that they’re often designed for both food preparation and cozy get-togethers, with friends and family.
Top executives often eat on the run so having a place to put together a simple meal after a long day is a game changer. And a kitchen that’s set up for social events in the home, entertaining for business, or just having the gang over can mean the world to the person who is always on the go.
4. Hardwood floors
In the past, homes with carpets were considered better in order to conserve energy. Older homeowners are still more likely to prefer carpeting because, to them, it makes the home feel a little bit warmer. But for the younger generation of home buyers, particularly young working executives with families, hardwood floors say durability and ease of care. They are also considered to be more of a luxury in today’s real estate market. High quality is a must here.
5. Luxury Bathrooms
Nothing says luxury more than an elegant bath. Coming home after hours of meetings, deadlines, daily workouts, drive time to and from the office, and overall stress, means sore backs, tired feet, and aching muscles. Jumping into the perfect luxury shower or jacuzzi tub will wash away all the stress of the day and leave it all behind. At Ramos Design Build, projects include Kohler bathroom sinks, toilets, and tubs. Kohler’s large variety of colors and styles make them elegant. Their superb quality and sturdiness make them highly functional and worry-free.
